About you

To help achieve this, we want to recruit permanent ATM’s who are experienced and passionate about working towards achieving positive change for children and families.

We are therefore looking for candidates who have ability to:

  • Work individually and manage a team of social workers towards making safe and robust decisions under pressure and strict deadlines
  • Be flexible and deal with changing needs or requests at short notice
  • Work within a relationship and strength-based practice framework
  • Work positively, constructively but with clear focus and direction with a team of social workers, multi-agency partners and other internal teams to identify need, risk and strengths and make appropriate decisions and plans for the child(ren).
  • Work autonomously in a professionally responsible and accountable manner but also able to work collaboratively as part of a wider management team
  • Lead, direct and motivate a team of social workers
  • Deliver high quality supervision and support social workers to continually develop their skills and practice
  • Help contribute to team and service development
  • Be enthusiastic and committed to individual development

Successful candidates will work under the supervision of the SPOC Team manager.

You must be qualified and be Social Work England (formerly HCPC) registered.

As a Council, we are also committed to providing you with on-going training and development.

This is a full-time, permanent position, open to candidates with both existing managerial experience and advanced or senior social workers looking to move into a management role. Prior MASH experience is useful but not essential if candidates are able to demonstrate you have the requisite experience and skills to deliver skills and functions of the role as outlined above and in the Job Description. It is a pre-requisite that you possess experience in a statutory children’s social care setting and have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of legislative framework, relevant research and national developments, and policies relating to children’s social care.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to broaden and develop their skill set; become part of a team committed to improving outcomes for children and families in Croydon; and join in Croydon’s journey of change.
