Culture Projects Officer
We’re looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic Culture Projects Officer to play a key role supporting the Croydon Council culture team in the delivery of arts and heritage events, creative wellbeing, and library service engagement.
We are a small team who have been building on the legacy of London Borough of Culture (LBoC), celebrating Croydon’s unique culture and communities through family events; outdoor arts; concerts; exhibitions; visual arts, textiles and crafts; grant programmes; creative wellbeing projects and much more.
We’re now preparing for our second LBoC legacy year which alongside large and medium scale events such as Croydon Harvest, A Very Croydon Christmas, and Open House, will have a special focus on composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and an exciting outdoor programme in partnership with the National Gallery. Our Creative Wellbeing colleagues will be running a year of commissioning and grants supporting communities across the borough. Our Library and Museum Teams will also be evolving their offer including new outreach and public programmes.
You’ll be a dynamic project administrator with a strong interest and preferably experience in arts and culture. Key tasks will be supporting safe and effective event management; managing evaluation data and records; supporting event marketing including managing the photo library and photo permissions; administering grant programmes and panels and coordinating the Cultural Attache staff network. You will have a good understanding of the value of culture in supporting regeneration and wellbeing objectives. A commitment to inclusive working is essential.
You will have good people skills as you will need to work closely with a wide range of people including artists, creative practitioners, communities, internal colleagues and external partners. Excellent numeracy skills, attention to detail and good organisation are critical.
You will have the ability to hit the ground running, work flexibly and manage a busy event schedule. The role requires some weekend and evening working, particularly August – October 2025 when a working pattern of Tuesday – Saturday may be preferable.
The role is initially offered on a one-year fixed term basis with the potential for further extension subject to funding.
