Media Relations Officer - Grade 11 (£38,883 - £40,869pa)

JOB DESCRIPTION - We are looking for someone who understands the media and how to tailor messages for a variety of channels, with the experience and confidence to advice senior officers, members and staff on the best ways to get their messages across. Confident and adept in dealing with breaking news stories across different channels you will need the ability to think on your feet, prioritise and make informed decisions drawing on your communications experience.  You will help deliver  proactive media relations activities, plan and secure coverage on a national scale, and you will participate in a mandatory outofhours duty rota which means working some weekends and evenings. The role requires a nationally-recognised communications qualification (or equivalent) with recent relevant experience. Experience of working with local and national media is essential as well as excellent writing skills. Media law experience is desirable.
