Sessional Family Learning Tutors

CALAT Sessional Lecturer Conditions: Band 1, Pts 3 to 8 - £30.69 to £37.34 (including holiday pay) per hour.

We are developing our Family Learning programme, and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Family Learning team, supporting Croydon residents and communities to access learning opportunities.

Tutors required to teach a broad curriculum, including personal development, employability and functional English and maths in community setting, working and supporting parents/carers to improve skills and gain positive outcomes.  Tutors must have an awareness of how children learn; as you will be planning sessions for adults and children and provide opportunities for the parents/carers to support their child’s learning.

Applicants must hold suitable subject qualifications, have relevant knowledge and skills and previous experience of teaching mixed-ability groups.  A current knowledge of interactive and digital teaching formats is an advantage.  Be flexible in approach to teach across 3 centres, and various community venues, in Thornton Heath, New Addington, Croydon, and Purley.  Have availability to work throughout the year on set teaching days (including school holidays).

As a condition of employment, all applicants should hold a qualification in their subject, as well as a teaching or training qualification: Level 3 Award in Education & Training / Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) or equivalent as a minimum.  Teachers without relevant teacher training qualifications or qualified teacher status (DTLLS or equivalent) will be required to work towards the relevant qualifications.

Starting pay is £30.69 to £32.02 per hour (including holiday pay), depending on teaching qualification and experience.  Tutors holding the equivalent to a Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training / Certificate in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or above, start at £32.02 (including holiday pay) per hour.
