Career Progression
The starting salary is based on qualifications and experience. Staff are supported through appraisal to reach the top of the scale through annual increments.
Many of our sessional teachers have progressed to salaried Instrumental Music Teacher and Leader (IMTL) posts for those able to lead our whole class programmes for a substantial proportion of their time. An Instrumental Music Teacher and Leader can reach the top of the scale for qualified teachers (up to £38k) whether they have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or not.
For those undertaking the appropriate work pattern we can offer support for gaining QTS and completing the newly qualified teacher induction process. An IMTL with QTS can also apply to be paid on the Upper Pay Range, up to a full time equivalent salary of £43k.
From time to time posts with additional allowances become available.
